This webinar was hosted by Absa Bank Kenya as the launch of the launch the Africa Financial Markets Index (AFMI) fifth edition in Kenya, in collaboration with OMFIF, following the international launch of the report on 13 October 2021.
Description
The index has been an important reference point for policymakers, investors, and analysts in assessing the growth of financial markets across the continent since its inception in 2017.
This year, as Africa works to recover from the Covid-19 crisis, the index will serve as a critical tool for policymakers and market actors, as well as a benchmark for international investors eager to engage in the continent. The index records the openness and attractiveness of 23 countries across the continent to foreign investment based on the six fundamental pillars below:
· Market depth
· Access to foreign exchange
· Market transparency, tax and regulatory environment
· Capacity of local investors
· Macroeconomic opportunities
· Legality and enforceability of standard financial markets master agreements
