Anzetse Were is a development economist with over 15 years of experience and expertise in macroeconomics, green and climate finance, carbon markets, public policy, geopolitical advisory, women and wok, and ethical tech.

She advises African and foreign governments, multilateral organisations, development actors and the private sector on sustainable capital allocation, economic development strategies, and public policy. For example, she supported the execution of the International Monetary Fund Resilience Sustainability Facility in Kenya. Her expertise is sought after to provide clarity on how to navigate the complex realities of African economies.  


She is widely authored with articles, papers and reports published in international media outlets, business magazines and development periodicals. She is a recognised global thought leader, keynote speaker and board member. Anzetse has a Master’s in Economics from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor’s degree from Brown University.
