Voluntary Carbon Markets in Africa


Global Voluntary Carbon Markets (VCM) grew at a compound annual growth rate of over 31% from 2016 to 2021. Growth in Africa was faster at 36%. As African governments get more engaged in domiciling carbon trading, there is an opportunity to take an ecosystem view that fosters a conducive environment for VCM development.


The presentation explores the state of Voluntary Carbon Markets in Africa, the opportunities they present, as well as how African stakeholders can address challenges to scaling the carbon market on the continent.
